Take a news paper. In a group of four, divide up the paper, count the articles having something to do with foreign countries. Keep track of how many articles are about or mention :

North Africa/Southwest Asia including the Middle East, Iran and the former Soviet Central Asian Republics

What are the articles about? Take note of any geographical ideas that you find in the articles (geopolitics, human rights, environmental issues, geoeconomics, epidemiology, demographics, geohistorical, geocultural etc.). 

Each person should keep their own list. Write the name of your partners on your list as well as your own name. Turn in your list at the end of the exercise.
