Typical Climate: Warm with high rainfall amounts. Limited range in North America-Belize, Yucatan, parts of Central America. Not in the United States.
Typical Vegetation: Tremendous diversity. Many species not yet studied. Canopy effect and "layers" of vegetation.
Typical Animals: Great diversity. Notable and well known: jaguars, leaf cutting ants, javelina, puma, great diversity of birds.
Human Use and Conservation Issues: Long term effects of human use. Logging, agriculture, and mining...more recently tourism. Site of ancient cultures... many sites not studied.
