Environmental Issues: human-earth interaction

If we were to complete our study of the region's physical geography, we would look at biomes, ecosystems, landforms and human-environment interactions that have shaped the landscape. In the time allotted, I just want to mention that Europe is one of the most heavily industrialized areas on earth. 

This industrialization, coupled with the shear population pressure, greatly exacerbate Europe's environmental problems. Some of the environmental issues facing Europe today including acid rain, oil spills, heavily polluted water, especially in the Baltic and Black Seas which are virtually closed basins, over-fishing, soil degradation, rising sea levels, radioactive pollution, and genetically modified plants, to name a few.
